AIRSOFT GAMES at OA

Most Airsoft games are played at the Bowie field, but some events will take place at our new field in Rosedale (Baltimore). For details, check the OA Calendar.

Airsoft is an exciting sport that started in Japan in the early 1980s and has become a popular world-wide activity. It is similar to paintball. However, instead of compressed air markers, Airsoft players use replicas of real assault weapons that fire 6mm soft plastic, biodegradable pellets.

Airsoft guns are one of three types: Automatic-Electric Guns (AEGs) are battery powered; Gas Blow-Back (GBB) guns are driven by pressurized "green" gas (GBBs are usually pistols); or spring powered guns (these are relatively inexpensive). Airsoft games teach the teamwork skills necessary to achieve success on the field and in real life.

Like paintball, Airsoft battles are high-adrenaline, head-to-head competition. Airsoft games more closely simulate military and police style operations.

Outdoor Adventures offers a safe and challenging environment for Airsoft enthusiasts.

Unless otherwise noted for special events, you may simply show up to play the day of the event and pay a $15 fee.

ATTENTION:

Full face paintball goggles must be used for Airsoft games at OA.

As of March 1, 2007, our insurance carrier has mandated that Airsoft players must wear factory un-modified paintball goggles/mask systems.

Airsoft Player Checklist

A waiver is required for all participants. This waiver can be downloaded from here or will be sent to you by mail upon request. Please have all waivers already completed when you arrive.

You may bring your own Airsoft guns, gas and pellets. Biodegradable pellets are mandatory!

Velocity limits are 420 fps for woods play, 335 fps in and around the Castle, 500 fps for snipers with a 125 foot minimum engagement distance.

OA currently has 8 Airsoft guns for rent at the field (ICS M4s). They rent for $15 each w/one magazine and a mask. Extra-large hi-capacity batteries should easily last all day. Extra magazines are available w/$30 deposit that you only get back when you turn the magazine back in. 2000 bio BBs in a bottle cost $10; 4000 bios in a bag cost $14.

As we provide for all our regular paintball players, free drinking water is always available. Sodas, sports drinks, and snacks are also on sale at the site.
